We're excited to announce the release of a new addition to the Soundtrap studio; Rotary PRO, an advancement to the existing Rotary effect. This powerful tool gives you even more control over your sound, allowing you to create a wider variety of vintage-inspired effects.

What is a Rotary Effect?

A Rotary effect simulates the sound of a Leslie speaker, a rotating speaker cabinet commonly used in organs and other instruments. Rotating two speakers at different speeds creates a swirling, chorus-like effect. This effect is particularly popular in funk, soul, and psychedelic music.

The Leslie speaker was invented in the 1960s and quickly became a staple in organ music. It was later adopted by other genres, including rock and pop, to add a unique and distinctive sound.

Today, you can achieve the same awesome effect in Soundtrap with the Rotary PRO effect

Rotary PRO: A New Level of Control

The Rotary PRO effect in Soundtrap offers four control parameters:

  • Treble Speed: Adjusts the speed of the high-frequency rotations.

  • Bass Speed: Adjusts the speed of the low-frequency rotations.

  • Balance: Emphasizes either the high frequencies (treble) or the low frequencies (bass) more in the mix.

  • Mix: Determines the blend between the dry vs wet signal; hence how much the Rotary effect is applied.

By adjusting these parameters, you can create a wide variety of swirling, chorus-like effects that will add depth and texture to your music.
