Spotlight: Producer visungg Receives Soundtrap Staff Pick

Every month, Soundtrap hosts a Sample Pack Challenge on the Soundtrap Discord server. Users get a chance to flip the samples from the two latest packs in the Soundtrap Studio. This week, it was Krush (Krush Phonk) and Memo (Rnb/Rap vocals).

The challenge brought out some incredible talent as always, but one submission stood out to the Soundtrap Staff.

visungg became this week's staff pick with his incredible submission and creative take on the sample pack. We caught up with visungg to learn more about his journey, his creative process, and what this win means to him.

I'm visungg and I like making electronic music

Where are you from and how old are you?

I'm from New Zealand

How long have you been making music and what got you started?

For 4 yrs now I think. I started playing keyboard a little while before that and I liked the idea of making music so I tried it !! I quickly learnt that making songs isnt just laying out notes but so many other things go into making good music.

Do you have any favorite Soundtrap effects or features that helped shape your winning track?

I drenched so much of the synths and percussion in the studio reverb lol and I used the more options tab to make the little stabby synth and the piercing ghostly sound.

What do you think makes a track stand out in a challenge like this?

I think you should be unafraid to experiment with different sounds and styles, try something you usually don't do.

What was your initial reaction when you heard the sample pack?

I was a really big fan of how glittery and upbeat Krush sounded and I liked how gritty some of the samples were, and I liked how versatile the samples in Memos were.

Did any particular loop or sound jump out at you?

I really like the boogie tops loop in the krush sound pack I liked how bouncy and fun it sounded. If you want more questions answered or any answers changed that's fine by me !! Who or what inspires you musically?

I've been really inspired by SOPHIE, charli xcx and cecile believe

Did any of that inspiration make its way into your submission?

Yes !! I just finished listening to grins by charli xcx and I really liked how spacey it felt.

If your winning track was the soundtrack to a movie, what kind of scene would it accompany?

I think it would fit into a scene where the main character is letting go of their past and starting anew.
